Taghazout Beach in Agadir

Taghazout Beach | Taghazout is not just for wave catchers

Taghazout Beach is Located near Agadir, little Taghazout has long captivated the hearts of wave catchers from around the world. And not just for surfers, but for anyone looking for peace and affordable. If you are preparing for a trip to Morocco, this city on the Atlantic coast must definitely be on your list.

Catching waves has always been my romantic dream, shattered by a local instructor learning that I can’t swim. I didn’t learn to swim that way, but when I decided to visit Agadir, I always stayed in Taghazout.

One of the reasons is that there are no hostels in Agadir, and although I often choose a private room in them, I adore the friendly and cosmopolitan atmosphere of the hostels. Other travelers gather in Taghazout – the standard all-inclusive packages are not relevant to them, they are not afraid of challenges and are a bit romantic. They like to watch fishermen pull their boats out of the sea; like to sneak into the local restaurants in the evening, where everyone tastes fresh fish. They’re a little discontinued because they’re not afraid to find a local taxi or bus, negotiate with a driver, get lost while walking in nature, or, of course, skate the waves to insanity.

Bus From Agadir To Taghazout Beach

Taghazout, 19 km from Agadir, is easily reached by local bus or taxi. Local Alsa bus no. 32 or 33 depart from Mohamed V Avenue, the Wilaya stop in front of the Shems Casino ( here you will find the stop location marked on the map). The duration of the trip is about 35 minutes, the price is 7.5 Dh (about 0.60 euros). A private taxi, if you can negotiate, will cost about 120 DH (about 10 euros).

Taghazout – a small town, probably almost half of the population survives on tourism, has established hostels, surfing points, restaurants, cafes. This is great for families with children, as the ocean view studio can be rented for € 30-40 a night, food is inexpensive and fresh fish is sold by fishermen in the morning on the beach just steps away. In addition to surfing lessons, some hostels offer yoga classes, and travelers visit the nearby Paradise Valley.

By the way, most hostels offer all-inclusive packages for active travelers – the price includes accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, yoga, surfing lessons, shuttle, and excursions. A real paradise and an alternative for those who do not want to worry about anything during their vacation. By the way, the best waves, they say, occur in the winter season, from November to March.

It’s also worth visiting nearby villages like my favorite Aourir or else Banana Village where bananas are grown!

It is interesting to note that Taghazout is gradually becoming more and more hipster, local cafes are similar to foreign ones, loft design, menus, and layouts are becoming more popular. At the same time, Taghazout is a great example of how good marketing can turn a small Moroccan city into a center of attraction for active travelers.
